Dr. Deng invited Dr. Qilin Cao to give a seminar talk in Stark Neurosciences Research Institute

Updated: Oct 11

Professor Cao works at the Center for Translational Science and the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work in Florida. He is interested in spinal cord injury, with a focus on using stem cell transplantation at different developmental stages to promote axonal regeneration and remyelination. His work has spanned various cell types, including pluripotent stem cells, embryonic brain precursors, glial-restricted precursor cells, adult oligodendrocyte precursor cells, glial-restricted-precursor-derived astrocytes, and human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neural progenitor cells. More recently, he discovered that in addition to the glial scar, a fibrotic scar also serves as a significant barrier to axonal regeneration.

Dr. Cao shared this discovery during a seminar talk at Stark.
